About us

Dublin North Educate Together 2nd Level Campaign

Some members from the campaign.

We are a parent led group from Belmayne Educate Together NS and North Bay Educate Together NS. Since we began our campaign in 2015 our purpose has been to highlight and gather support for the establishment of an Educate Together secondary school in the Dublin 13 area.

On the 13th April 2018, the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton announced that a 1000 pupil secondary school for Dublin 13 will open in 2019. It is to serve the area of Dublin 13 which includes, Baldoyle, Bayside, Belmayne, Clongriffin, Donaghmede,  Howth and Sutton. Educate Together put in an application to serve as patrons of this new school.

Our campaign team with the assistance of the News Schools team at Educate Together embarked an a six week campaign asking parents to #voteEducateTogether as patrons of the school. We needed to show the department that parents from the area are interested in sending their children to an Educate Together secondary school.  In order to do that we encouraged parents to place their first preference votes in Educate Together by way of the Online Patronage Process System (OPPS) . Voting closed 31st July 2018.

On October 31st the results came through that we have been successful and that Educate Together had been made patrons of the new 1000 pupil secondary school. Read Department of Education and Skills press release  and report on the patronage process.

Here are our fantastic bunch of volunteers, who were out in their spare time  urging parents to vote for a new Second Level Educate Together school for Dublin 13 catchment area.

Come and speak to us about Educate Together or join up with the campaign team in the following places before the July 31st deadline.

We are asking volunteers to sign up and assist us in public meetings, leafleting, manning information stands and spreading the word about why an Educate Together secondary school would be so beneficial to the catchment area.
